About Marci - Bridal Hair & Makeup Artist in York

Hi, I’m Marci, a professional makeup artist and hairstylist based in York, North Yorkshire, specialising in bridal beauty. My journey into the beauty industry began back in the Czech Republic, where I trained as a Beauty Therapist from 1997 to 2000. However, my true passion for creative makeup ignited when I started competing in Fantasy Makeup Competitions across Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic in 2000.

When I’m not working with makeup or hairstyling (alias painting faces and sculpting hair), you’ll very often find me painting and drawing on paper and canvas, dreaming, writing, taking photos — art is at the core of everything I do. It has always been. I am a hardcore introvert but enough chatty when engaging in talking about my passions (which will be you and your ideaL look!).

My career evolved when I became a beauty consultant and later a lecturer for a modeling agency, where I taught young women how to apply skincare and makeup for everyday life, as well as for photoshoots and catwalks. So ask me away how to look after your skin.

In 2002, I embarked on my journey into bridal makeup and hairstyling, and I’ve never looked back. I’ve trained in Advanced Makeup, Ethnic Skintones Makeup, and Hairstyling at Beauty Base School in London under the guidance of Mai Lee in 2009, refining my craft to serve a diverse range of clients.

Along the way, I earned a diploma in Beauty Therapy through distance learning in the UK, where I graduated with the highest honours (a fun fact: this course mainly helped me polish my language skills!).

I’m committed to staying ahead of the curve and continually upgrading my skills through ongoing training. I’ve attended various workshops, including the P.Louise Makeup Academy in Manchester for heavy glam looks, and numerous online hair styling courses with Elstile, Tonya Stylist, and Ulyana Aster.

Since 2007, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of photoshoots, including fashion shoots, pre-wedding sessions, events like Miss York, and promotional/corporate shoots. In 2011, I started collaborating with photography studios in York, Harrogate, and Leeds, where I’ve gained invaluable experience as a session stylist.

Whether it’s a wedding, photoshoot, or any special event, my mission is to help you look and feel your best, bringing out your unique beauty with a personalised, professional touch and keep you calm during what could be an intense morning (I am actually a certified yoga and breath work teacher).

I’m passionate about bridal hairstyling and makeup, creative editorial looks, as well as creating simple styles that highlight each individual’s natural beauty.

My signature look is a fresh glowing version of yourself or soft glam.

With 28 years of experience, I’ve never stopped learning and exploring new techniques, new products —it’s what keeps me excited and inspired in this ever-evolving industry. The beauty of this job lies in continuous growth, job satisfaction, and, most importantly, the joy of making my clients happy and radiant.

Marci has had the pleasure of regularly collaborating with the talented and bubbly photographer, Andrea Denniss, Head of Pink Lily Photography. Together, they’ve created stunning glam hair and makeup looks for Andrea’s “Lovely Lady’s Shoots”—sophisticated boudoir photoshoots and headshots that truly highlight every woman at her best.

Marci also partners with the award-winning Ross Charles Hairdressing (Best Hair Salon in York), where she complements their fantastic and inspiring competition hair looks for prestigious events like the L’Oreal Colour Trophy and British Hairdressing Awards.

In addition, Marci works closely with the wonderful photographer David Charles, providing makeup for professional headshots, including work for Jane McDonald (2019 and 2021).

Marci occasionally collaborates on shoots throughout Yorkshire, contributing to editorial features in publications like The Sun and The Daily Mail, where she’s had the pleasure of beautifying men and women featured in various articles.

She’s also had the exciting opportunity to do hair and makeup for Lizzie Armitstead, the Olympic cyclist, during a two-day filming project in the Dales.

Marci has provided makeup and hair for numerous corporate shoots, including for notable clients like Pfizer and Radara (targeted skincare).

Most recently, Marci had the honor of doing makeup for a national lottery winners at a press release conference.

Marci is fully insured and holds an advanced certification in Makeup and Hairstyling.
